Ashlyn Kaye Klatt, Miss North Dakota Junior High Rodeo, is the 11-year-old-daughter of Delvin and Nancy Klatt from Dickinson. She attends Dickinson Middle School where she plays basketball, volleyball and will see what other activities she can become involved in as she transitions to a new school.
Her enthusiasm for rodeo and her horses is shown in the arena where she competes in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Ribbon Roping and hoping to be Team Roping soon. When not at a rodeo Ashlyn can be found spending time in the kitchen, enjoying their family’s lake cabin, or just being around her family.
Being part of rodeo and living the western way of life has taught Ashlyn how hard work pays off, the importance of caring for animals and others. Miss Klatt has also learned that literacy is important not only in school but important when pursuing other goals. So, Ashlyn has chosen to make literacy a priority not only for herself but for others.
During her reign as a representative of North Dakota’s Junior High Rodeo Association, Ashlyn will travel this great state making appearances at a variety of rodeos, schools, non-profit organizations, parades, and other special events to get others to love the sport of rodeo, promote the great sponsors, and demonstrate what it means to be a cowgirl and the western way of life.
